Description
tkcVideo is a multi-format video playback application for the Sharp Zaurus, making the Zaurus the worlds first portable Mpeg4 player. Because Mpeg4 encoded files allow the use of lower bitrates with the same quality, it is possible to encode more than 1 hour of 320x240 (the Zaurus screen resolution) Mpeg4 video to a 128mb Compact Flash card.

Now you can take your movies anywhere on the go and watch them conveniently while you are waiting at the doctor, traveling or bored in a meeting (although the headphones will be a giveaway).

Supported video formats:

* MPEG 1
* MPEG 2
* MPEG 4 +
* MSMPEG4 V3 +
* H263(+) (aka RealVideo 1.0)
* Raw video
* AVI
* MJPEG

+ Due to trademark restrictions we can't actually name some of the formats, but if you look at ffmpeg.sf.net we support everything listed there.

Supported encoded audio:

* MP1
* MP2
* MP3

Other Features:

* Preview mode
* Fullscreen mode
* Seeking (ff/rew is also assigned to left/right hardware keys) for AVI/MPEG4/DIVX files
* Pause/resume (can use the hardware "space" key)
* Highly optimized for the CPU for maximum performance using Intel's IPP code

Because of the limitation in SD support on the Zaurus, you cannot currently use this external media to play files. We are trying to find a work around now.

Please keep in mind that this is a PDA with a 320x240 resolution, the odds of you taking a desktop video app of 30 frames per second and 800x600 resolution and expecting it to play are non-existant. There are lots of tools available for reformatting video so that it will play properly on the Zaurus, and we have documented that in the manual. A good source of material is www.pocketmovies.net.

We were able to greatly accelerate the release of tkcVideo using the popular ffmpeg library found at ffmpeg.sf.net. These guys have done some great work and deserve to be commended.
