SmartMap is a program for working with high resolution color electronic maps for CASIO BE-300. It is compatible with GPS receiver connected through the Compact Flash socket or the serial port. The program enables you to view maps, determine your location on the map, view the current track (route), store the track in the ESRI Shape File format, and save the current track.

The software package include MapManager - a freeware program for a desktop PC, running under Win98/Me/2000/XP, designed as a tool for the SmartMap users. MapManager allows a user to make a digital map from various data sources: ESRI Shape File format, scanned maps in the JPEG format, and the tracks recorded by SmartMap. These source data will be transformed to geographic coordinate system and can be saved like a high-performance color digital map of user defined content. Thus you can scan and prepare color vector electronic maps for PocketPC. It is a convenient instrument for handling large archives of electronic maps. MapManager imports maps in the ESRI Shape file format, and converts them to VTM format, which is specifically developed by VITO Technology to accelerate the work with maps on Pocket PC with its limited resources.  Pocket PC VTM maps can be used for BE-300 as well.Check Handango and PocketGear for VTM maps for Washington DC, Italy, Taiwan, Australia, etc. All maps are prepared in MapManager using publicly available ESRI Shape files.
