In this classic Spelling Bee game, simply listen to the words and correctly spell them to win. Spelling Bee features an easy-to-understand word announcer, snappy sound effects, optional definitions and hints to help you along the way.
Play a quick game or compete a School, County and National level in the Tournament mode! Navigating the Menu Options - Navigate the Main Menu options using the UP and DOWN (or track wheel) controls. Choose to play Quick Play or Tournament.
- Navigate the sub menu options using the UP and DOWN (or track wheel) controls. Choose any one of the difficulty levels and start playing the game.
Playing the Game QUICK PLAY In Quick Play you initially get 10 words to spell. If you spell all of them correctly then you get 10 more words to spell. If you spell any of these extra words wrong, the game ends. You can choose your difficulty level - Easy, Medium or Hard. You can repeat the word as many times as you like.
TOURNAMENT There are 3 stages in Tournament mode - School, County and National. In every stage, as you spell words correctly, other contestants will get eliminated till you have only one opponent left. Then you will have to defeat this opponent in a Head to Head competition in order to qualify for the next stage. You win the game if you win all three stages.
SCORES Scores are tracked separately for each level and you are awarded bonus points based on the time left. Hints are not available in Hard level in QUICK PLAY mode and in National level in TOURNAMENT mode. No bonus points are awarded if you use hints or if less than 15 seconds remain in the allowed time when you spell correctly.
KEYS - Press the ''*'' key to clear the last entered character in the text box.
- If your phone has a track wheel, then you can press the ''ALT'' key while moving the track wheel to navigate LEFT-RIGHT, while without the ''ALT'' key, the track wheel navigation is UP-DOWN.
The main target of Spelling Bee is to spell the word correctly within the given 2 minutes. Hints can be used while spelling the word, via,
- Random Letter- In Quick Play''s Easy Level and Tournament''s School level.
- Flash Card- In Quick Play''s Medium Level and Tournament''s County Level.
- Definition- For all words in Quick Play and Tournament.
Is there any time limitation to complete a game? Yes. The time limitation is 2 Minutes per word.
Can I leave my game after playing it partially and continue later? Yes. You can stop playing the game at anytime and continue later by using the option ?RESUME GAME?. The game will resume from the state you stopped earlier.
What OS Version of a BlackBerry device is required for Spelling Bee? This application requires BlackBerry Operating System version 4.2 or later.
The game screen is very dark. On some blackberry handsets the backlight is turned off by default. You will see a ''light'' key on the keypad at the bottom right - press it twice to get a bright backlight.
