PhatSpell Overview

PhatSpell for Windows Mobile based Smartphone allows users to check spelling in practically any application that permits text editing as Pocket Word, Inbox, PhatNotes, and others. PhatSpell includes 13 dictionaries for 10 languages: Danish, Dutch, English (US, UK and Medical), French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese (Brazilian and European), Spanish, and Swedish. Depending on the language, size of a main dictionary varies from 135KB to 570KB. If downloaded as a CAB file PhatSpell includes US English dictionary only, while other dictionaries can be downloaded directly onto your Smartphone using the Download Dictionaries command. Along with the spell checker functionality, PhatSpell also adds standard editing text commands such as text selection, cut, copy, and paste. PhatSpell is extremely easy to use: to access PhatSpell while editing text, simply press and hold the assigned hot key for about a second.

Using PhatSpell

When you run PhatSpell for the first time, the application will prompt you to select the hot key that will be used to initiate the PhatSpell application. By default, PhatSpell assigns the Enter (Action) key as the hot key. To activate the spell checker while using a text edition application press and hold the assigned key for about a second. At the end of this timeout, the PhatSpell menu will automatically appear (see the PhatSpell menu section for more information). In addition to key assignment, this dialog box allows you to change startup options, download additional dictionaries, and access spell checker options.
