But, Odometer Recorder is not just a car mileage tracker or mileage calculator only. This Pocket PC software can offer you extra value when it comes to your tax declaration. If you have a company provided car, Odometer Recorder can help you distinguish between business and personal mileage. This is very important because personal use of a company provided vehicle is seen as a taxable fringe benefit. The unspoken goal of Odometer Recorder is to assist you with tax planning and tax preparation rather than simply to record mileage statistics.
The main meaning of making a tax declaration correctly is to achieve a balance value of 0.0 (you can see this value on the main view of Odometer Recorder). The balance value of 0.0 means that all your mileage that is registered corresponds with the actual mileage/kilometers your car drove. The second step in the finalizing of your tax declaration is to view Statistics. If the statistics you get are not what you expected, then go back to your registrations, and look through those records. Maybe some registrations are registered under different categories. The Odometer Recorder makes possible such repeating process until you are satisfied with the output.
You can collect your registered mileage on your Desktop PC
Odometer Recorder lets you not only register your kilometres/miles driven and categorize them, but also view the statistics for that mileage under different categories. The program even allows you to export all your registered mileage and statistics in Comma Separated Values (CSV) files. CSV is a text format recognized by most spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Excel).
The export file will be saved on your Pocket PC (in a folder of your choice: Business or Personal) with the extension .csv reserved for the CSV file type. This file can be easily exported using your Desktop PC via ActiveSync program or "manually" via Windows Explorer. The exported file can be read by Microsoft Excel.
Statistical Reports
Odometer Recorder lets you view the statistics of your registered mileage under different categories within a selected date range. You can also export these statistics in a Comma Separated Values (CSV) file.
Odometer Recorder Help
Finally, you can get help at any time simply by tapping the Help command on the Start menu of your Pocket PC. When Odometer Recorder is visible on the Pocket PC screen, Help will display details and hints on how to use your Odometer Recorder.
