With this program and an active internet connection, you can play chess with a real human opponent. A real human can make mistakes that you can capitalize on (if you know how!). Human players can try to get you to make "sucker" moves and fall for traps unless you have your guard up. Real human players also tend to make moves based on intuition and past experience, not just logic and thinking X moves forward!
This program logs in over your internet connection as a guest player to the free internet chess server at http://www.freechess.org. There is no charge for using this server! You will be matched up with another player on the net for a timed blitz game with time parameters that you can set up. This program logs in as a guest to the server, unless you already have an FICS account in which case you can set it up to log in as yourself.
The complicated text based interface of the standard ICS clients has been completely hidden behind a GUI in this application to make it simple to use on a PDA. |
